English courses in England with GEOS

Accommodation at GEOS
We can arrange accommodation with one of our host families or at a guest house or hotel in the city.
We recommend homestay as the best way to experience British life and culture and to practise your English. The school is near the Centre of Hove, and very close to residential area where we have over 300 host families providing good quality accommodation. This is unusual for Brighton schools.

The standards of homestay accommodation are very high. The families are kind and friendly, the houses and flats are clean and warm and the majority of families are less than 20 minutes walk from the school. This means you can save up to £15 each week on your living costs while you are with us.

We want you to feel at home there, so if there are any problems you can always talk to our Accommodation Officer. You will have a single room and there is generally a maximum of 3 students per family and no-one will speak the same language as you. We want you to speak English as much as possible outside the school. We follow the English UK code of practice.

Your bedroom will have:

> a comfortable bed - at least standard size
> a wardrobe and a chest of drawers
> a mirror
> a table, chair and lamp for studying

The room will be cleaned at least once a week, and you will have fresh bed linen and towels every week.

Food at your accommodation:

Our host family accommodation is half-board, which means that they will prepare breakfast and the evening meal for you. On school days, you can buy lunch from one of the cafes or shops next to the school.

You will receive breakfast and an evening meal every day.

In 2008 single room accommodation is £105 per week outside the summer, £115 per week in July and August. Shared rooms (with a friend only) are availble at £98 per person per week outside the summer, £108 per week in July and August.

Bed and breakfast :

If you prefer, you can stay with a host family and cook for yourself. This would cost £93 per week outside the summer and £103 per week in July and August.

We can also offer advice and guidance regarding living in self-catering accommodation, or sharing a flat with other students.

Hotels, Hostels and Guest Houses:

A guest house or small hotel with breakfast included costs from approx. £210 per week. Brighton and Hove has many excellent hotels from £300 - £400 per week. The cheapest hotels available charge £30 per night bed and breakfast. T[he hotel that the school recommends is £48 per night bed and breakfast and £56 per night half board.
