homestay

we recommend homestay as the best way to experience British life and culture and to practise your English.

HOMESTAY IS NORMALLY NO MORE THAN 25 MINUTES WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE SCHOOL. THIS IS SOMETHING MANY SCHOOLS IN BRIGHTON CANNOT OFFER.

The standards of homestay accommodation are very high. The families are kind and friendly, the houses and flats are clean and warm and the majority of families are less than 20 minutes walk from the school. This means you can save up to £16 on transport costs each week while you are with us.

We want you to feel at home there, so if there are any problems you can always talk to our Accommodation Officer. You will have a single room and there is generally a maximum of 3 students per family and no-one will speak the same language as you. We want you to speak English as much as possible outside the school. We follow the English UK code of practice.

Your bedroom will have:

  • a comfortable bed - at least standard size
  • a wardrobe and a chest of drawers
  • a mirror
  • a table, chair and lamp for studying (not always  available for short term students at busy times)

The room will be cleaned at least once a week, and you will have fresh bed linen and towels every week.

Food at your accommodation:

Our host family accommodation normally is half-board, which means that you will offer breakfast and you evening meal will be for you. On school days, you can buy lunch from one of the cafes or shops next to the school. You will receive breakfast and an evening meal every day.

Prices:

In 2010 single room half-board accommodation is £112 per week outside the summer, £122 per week from 20/6/10 - 28/8/10. Shared rooms half-board (with a friend only) are available at £105 per person per week outside the summer, £115 per week from 20/6/10 - 28/8/10.

Bed and breakfast:

If you prefer, you can stay with a host family and cook for yourself. This would cost £100 per week outside the summer and £110 per week from 20/6/10 - 28/8/10.
